First Bag Listed w the Bird Fabric...
Click on the photos to enlarge them...

This shot is in the park on Mallery St. near the village. It is the perfect place to sit and wait for the Great Horned Owls to hoot - especially if it is early in the morning and foggy.

A shrimp boat was heading buy...

These were all take on the beach at St. Simons on the Oak Street entrance. I have no idea what that amazing yellow bush is - but the photos do not do it justice.

An inside view...

It is finally Fall down here.

First Shots of the Fabric
Here is some shots of my very first fabric!
The birds listed are part of a list of all of the birds seen on Sapelo Island off the coast of Georgia in 2008.
Each bird image is a pen and ink of some of the birds... The Great Egret is from a Linoeum cut. The sun is setting here - so the shots are kind of dark - but click on them and they will enlarge.
Hope you enjoy!

Teeny gave his approval - I think a real bird caught his attention.

Welcome the Reversible Knitting Bag

So many people have ordered the hand made diaper bag to use as a knitting bag, so with a few pocket adjustments this one really functions to carry lots of narrow items!
All the pockets are on the outside. On each side you will find 2 outter pockets that are 3 inches wide and one middle pocket that is 6 inches wide.

Fabric Lunch Bag Tutorial

Thought I would start out with a fun and free tutorial on how to make a reuseable fabric lunch bag. I used a beautiful cotton/linen Japanese pear fabric to make mine, but you can use anything from recycled clothing to oil clothe.
To Make Your Reuseable Fabric Lunch Bag Pattern You will need:
Exterior Fabric
Interior Fabric
Sew in Velcro
Interfacing (optional)
1) cut 2 pieces of exterior fabric and 2 pieces of interior fabric to 10 inches wide and 12 inches tall.
2) On the top of each piece of fabric mark in 1 inch from the left and one inch in from the right. Use a ruler to make a straight line from this point to the bottom corner on the same side. Mark with a fabric pencil.

3) Cut along this line on all 4 pieces.
4) If you are using cotton you will want to line the exterior fabric with either fusible interfacing or sew in interfacing. I used Pellon 808 (Craft Bond) on the back of the pear fabric.
5) Cut your velcro to 6 3/4 inches long. Sew into the top of the two interior pieces. Place this 7/8 inch below the top edge.

6) Place your interior pieces of fabric pattern side together. Sew along all 3 sides using a 5/8 inch inseam. Leave a 3 - 4 inch opening on the bottom so you can turn your fabric lunch sack inside out later
Repeat. on the exterior fabric pieces. Sew all 3 sides and do not leave the opening.
7) Create the foot of your reuseable fabric lunch bag pattern:
While your bag pieces are still inside out flat out the two bottom corners. Measure in 2 inches from the tip of the corner. Sew along this line. Cut the triangle of fabric off 5/8 inches below the sew line.
Do this on the interior fabric as well.
**Tip: To make a larger foot you can sew this line in 3 inched in from the tip of the fabric.

8) Turn your exterior fabric inside out. Slip this inside of the interior fabric. Pattern sides together. Line up the seams and pin together. Sew around this top edge using that 5/8 inch inseam.

9) Turn your bag inside out. Tuck the open edges in on the opening you left on the interior fabric. Iron this flat and sew shut.
10) Tuck your interior fabric inside the bag. Work on creating a neat fold line at the top of the bag and iron as needed.
11) Sew around the top edge of the reuseable lunch bag pattern using a fun stitch. Your finished!
